Understanding the Rules When Writing Articles in the 3rd Person

It is when you are narrating a story that would involve writing in the third person. Thus this kind of writing is referred to as the form in narrative.

To be able to understand how to write in 3rd person, it is good to understand writing not in the narrative form which is the 1st person writing.

Writing situations then as if you are there yourself and describe it in the “I” point of view is the kind of writing in the 1st person perspective. To cite an example, your sentence will be written in this way, “The first time I saw her face, I thought she is really beautiful.”

And there is another kind of writing described as the second person perspective with the use of “you” in the sentence. Thus this form takes shape in some articles written like this sentence “If you want to know if the lady is beautiful, you might want to look at this picture.”

Now, if we describe the 3rd person writing, the situation is that you as the writer is not exactly in the story but rather you just act as the narrator of the event. If you are the narrator, you can describe the events or situations of your story to any mode or manner you like. Imagine the narrator making up the story in a light hearted or heavy way, and speaking the thoughts of another person even without the knowledge of the other person.

So, if you want to write following on the 3rd person way, there are some pointers that you can consider to help you.

The first tip is to decide the point of view that you want to tell about, like if you stay in one character’s point of view (or limited) or from all of the characters’ points of view (or omniscient).

Your next tip is to make a decision about the objective of what you will narrate, and this is between narrating only about the actions of your character, or narrating all of the actions and thoughts of your character. Note that in third person writing, the objective is to account the actions of the characters and you do not narrate the feelings or thoughts of the characters.

The third tip in writing in the third person perspective is the choosing of the voice of your character or characters, and this is considered the fun aspect in this type of writing. You have choices of your decision depending on how you will run your story, from having a character who is lunatic, or a someone from history, or make up your own person or group of persons to make up your characters.
